What to expect at HITEC, from an intern’s first-time experience at the established hospitality industry conference.
In 2014, we launched Plate IQ to meet the needs of the restaurant industry. Our founders realized that restaurants had an invoice problem. With tons of chicken-scratched, tomato-stained invoices and overstretched staff — and with everything from cleaning supplies to fresh produce showing up on the same invoice — restaurant operators everywhere were struggling to pay their vendors on time.
Over time we realized that this problem isn’t unique to restaurants. So many businesses rely on manual back office operations - bookkeepers manually typing in invoices and walking stacks of checks to desks for signatures. Vendors waiting for checks to turn up in the mail and matching them to invoices. Controllers reading off and confirming ACH numbers before manually wiring funds for payment.
At Plate IQ we’re solving those problems. We help bookkeepers and accountants keep their client’s account payables current. We help operators boost their margins with cashback on invoice spend. We help vendors keep track of their invoices and payment status.
